Warne is a small and friendly community in the Brasstown Township of Clay County, North Carolina. Similar to many of the areas in the sunbelt region, Warne has seen a considerable increase to its population in recent years, with an 18.4% increase since 2000.    

Though a very rural town, Warne has amazing scenic views and access to a range of outdoor recreational activities. Warne’s location in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia, has helped the community retain its rural character. The area surrounded by wildlife, including, bears, deer, foxes and the more recently reintroduced elk. Warne is also home to plenty of countryside, and national forests. Less than a mile away is the Nantahala National Forest, which is the largest of the four national forests in North Carolina and falls over both the mountains and valleys of western North Carolina. For the more adventurous, there are several White Water Rafting guides and tours in the nearby area. Some of the more well known businesses being Carolina Outfitters and Rafting America.

The nearby areas host many local festivals and celebrations. At Clay’s Corner in the close by community of Brasstown there is the annual New Year’s celebration “Possum Drop” where the New Year is celebrated by the dropping of a live possum from the roof of the store. The store also holds an annual Miss Possum Queen pageant and bluegrass musical performances. At the Andrews-Murphy Airport there is a Bi-annual Celebration of Flight Airshow, featuring a huge presentation of aircrafts, both vintage and hi-tech. The festival hosts many vendors that sell food, drink, and other souvenirs. These are just a few of the celebrations in the area that draw countless visitors from around the country and bring together the community of Warne and surrounding areas.

As a part of the Brasstown Township of Clay County, Warne is surrounded by many locations of cultural significance. Nearby is the John C. Campbell Folk School, which offers weekly and weekend classes in many areas of traditional and contemporary crafts, such as music, basketry, and writing.

Known for being a rural, but scenic, area Warne NC is the perfect place for relaxation. The community is filled with a friendly and welcoming community that make new residents instantly feel at home. It is the ideal location to retire or own a second home.
